Is it too early to start thinking about putting up Christmas trees? Personally, I don’t put my tree up until after Thanksgiving. Usually the first of December and I take it down right after Christmas, again that’s just me. From my recent scroll through Facebook, there’s a lot of people that already have their tree up or they’re working on it. Karen and I recently went to a conference and during our downtime we discussed different things, one of them being the Donald W. Reynolds Christmas trees. There are seven huge beautifully decorated trees that go up each year. I think it is wonderful when you drive through a community and see the holidays taking over.
This is the time of the year when people start planning and shopping for the holiday season. Through the hustle and bustle of it all don’t forget to take time to sit with friends and family. Recently my grandma was hospitalized, and it made me realize that I need to slow down and make time. My family is quirky and crazy at times, but I love them. Life gets hectic and if we don’t make the time to get together or send that text or holiday card, next thing you know it will have been weeks, then months since you’ve last spoke. So, if you are looking for something to do as a family, Wister Lake Lights on the Island is coming up soon. It’s a drive through light display. Each year we try to grow our display and the donations are used just for that. Our volunteers help take donations, pass out candy canes and hot chocolate on those cold nights. Some of our volunteers do it every year and it has become a family tradition. If you are looking to start a new family tradition, just let us know and we can get you signed up. Our display runs from November 15th through Christmas day.
